Jobtown
Privacy notice
Plain language · South Africa (POPIA)
Who we are
Responsible party: David Sampson, SuperStack. Information Officer contact: (placeholder). Website: jobsmybru.co.za.
What we collect and why
- First-party visitor ID (cookie + localStorage) to understand how people use the town and improve job recommendations — only if you accept analytics.
- Coarse events (e.g. zone visited, dossier opened) — no ad tracking, nothing sold to third parties.
- Truncated IP (/24 IPv4 or /48 IPv6) and optional salted hash for abuse prevention. Raw IPs are off by default and deleted after 30 days if ever enabled.
- “Looking for” preferences (sanitised text and chips) — stored separately after consent, never inside analytics events.
- Game profile, saved jobs and dossier stay in your browser unless you clear site data.
Lawful basis
Consent (POPIA s11). You can withdraw anytime below or in Settings → Privacy.
Retention
- Analytics events: 90 days (configurable).
- Raw IP (if enabled): 30 days, then nulled.
- Inactive visitors: 13 months.
Operators & cross-border
Analytics may be stored on Neon (region outside South Africa) and the site is hosted on Vercel. Processing relies on operator agreements (s72) and standard contractual safeguards.
